An American monthly travel magazine founded in 1971 and published continuously to the present.
Originally launched by American Express, it was later published by Time Inc. and now by Dotdash Meredith. It focuses on destinations, hotels, cruises, food and travel planning.
It is known for its photography-driven features and its annual World's Best Awards reader survey covering hotels, cities, islands and airlines.
The July 1996 issue includes the "After Dark: Los Angeles" department feature on page 46, by Peter Jon Lindberg, listed in the contents as "The latest word on L.A. nightlife, from jazz clubs to cigar bars."
The article, subtitled "It's 11 P.M. Do you know where your two-tones are?", surveys L.A.'s end-of-century revival of period nightspots, including forties-style supper clubs and fifties-style bebop joints.
It specifically cites the swing era's return at The Derby in Los Angeles, photographed on the contents page, stating that bands like Big Bad Voodoo Daddy lead the revival three generations later.
