Rolling Stone
An American music and culture magazine founded in San Francisco in 1967 by Jann Wenner and Ralph Gleason. It is still published and in print today.
It began with rock coverage in the 1960s and later expanded to entertainment, politics and current affairs, along with reviews, interviews and year end lists.
This Special Double Issue No. 803, dated December 24, 1998 / January 7th 1999, is the 1998 Rock & Roll Yearbook with Jewel on the cover.
For swing fans it is notable because after years of limited coverage, the movement breaks through here in two ways: on the charts with Big Bad Voodoo Daddy charting in both the Readers Top 20 and Billboard Top 50, and in the multi-page RS Style feature "Daddies' Night" by Mark Binelli which pairs several bands for a suited-up fashion shoot with interviews about the Swingers movie, and touring.
